Amazon closes ‘Amazon Style’ clothing stores

Amazon is closing its ‘Amazon Style’ clothing stores.

The closure of the US online giant’s two clothing stores is part of its new retail strategy. Amazon wants to concentrate more on its food division. This includes the US supermarket chain Whole Foods with more than 500 stores.

The move follows the company’s decision in March 2022 to close a significant number of its physical retail locations, including bookstores, 4-Star and pop-up stores. The closure of eight ‘Go Convenience’ stores was also confirmed in March, news platform Bloomberg reported.

The ‘Amazon Style’ clothing stores only opened in 2022 with locations in New York and Los Angeles. Amazon spokeswoman Kristen Kish explained that the decision to close these stores is aimed at improving the online fashion shopping experience and introducing innovative technologies. Affected employees should be helped to find new tasks within the company. The stores are expected to close next week.
