Hardly anyone is a bigger amateur football fan than Merijn Slagter. In the Tikkie Breed podcast he talks about his love for the sport with presenter Thijs de Jong and sidekick Henk Mulder.
Slagter returned last weekend to the first team of Omlandia from Ten Boer after an absence of almost twenty years. The goalkeeper was awarded a penalty after just two minutes. In this episode he talks about his remarkable return.
In addition to being an amateur football player, Slagter is also a journalist and writes for the website Over de Bal about amateur clubs in the North. In the podcast he discusses his favorite canteens, the nicest shirts and the most beautiful amateur football players he saw in action on the fields.
Just like Mulder, it hurts Slagter’s heart that public interest in football clubs is declining. For example, Mulder talks about the declining BNC, but Slagter also lists a few associations where they do everything they can to keep the club alive.
David Stolk tests WVV’s meatball in this episode and André van den Ende discusses Wildervank in East Groningen in the Club of the Week section.
