Tennis professional Daniel Altmaier reached the round of 16 at the ATP tournament in Mallorca. The 23-year-old from Kempen prevailed in his opening match against the Serb Dusan Lajovic 7: 5, 7: 6 (7: 2) and now meets Sebastian Baez (Argentina/No. 8) or Jordan Thompson (Australia).
For Altmaier, who is the only German player on the Balearic island, it was the first win of the short grass season after two bankruptcies. He had already lost in the first round at both the tournament in Halle and in Stuttgart.
