Tennis professional Daniel Altmaier started the clay court season with an unnecessary defeat.
The 25-year-old from Kempen lost to local hero and last year’s finalist Federico Coria 7:5, 3:6, 4:6 in Cordoba, Argentina. Altmaier, seeded number five, won the first set after being 3:5 behind, but then lost the thread and the match after 2:44 hours.
Yannick Hanfmann is also competing in Cordoba. Number seven on the seeding list will face Juan Pablo Varillas (Peru) at the start.
