FOOTBALL – The team between the youth and the main force of FC Emmen, the Under 21 team, has become champion this afternoon. Ruud Jalving’s team was 2-1 too strong for Vitesse Under 21. As a result of that result, not only was the title taken, but the team is also promoted to the highest level: Division 1.
Kian Slor and Joris Adams took the 2-0 lead at halftime. That margin could have been larger, but Guus Offerhaus missed a penalty in the twelfth minute (the score was then still 0-0).
In the second half FC Emmen had a harder time. Vitesse insisted and after an hour of play, Enrico Hernández made it 2-1. After that Emmen recovered and it didn’t really get in the way anymore.
Next season FC Emmen Under 21, then trained by Nico Haak, will play in Division 1 against clubs such as Feyenoord, FC Groningen, ADO Den Haag and Willem II.
