For the first time since 2019, the Federation of German Cyclists (BDR) is organizing German championships on the track. The sports forum in Kaarst-Büttgen is the scene of the 135th title fight from Tuesday to Sunday.
Even sprint star Pascal Ackermann wants to make a detour to the track. In any case, the former Giro stage winner is registered for the title fights.
“I’m very happy that Pascal is making the trip to the track,” said national coach Tim Zühlke. In the elite class, Roger Kluge is another World Tour pro on the starting list. For women, Lisa Brennauer (Durach), Franziska Brauße (Eningen) and Mieke Kröger (Bielefeld), three of the four Olympic champions of 2021 have announced their coming for Büttgen.
At the last championships to date in 2019 in Berlin as part of the finals held for the first time, Brauße, Marc Jurczyk from Erfurt and Theo Reinhardt from Berlin were the most successful drivers with three championship titles each. In 2020 and 2021 the championships had to be canceled without replacement due to the corona pandemic.
