The first of the two descents on the notorious Streif (11.30 a.m. in the Sportschau) is started from the Mausefalle, which is a little lower down, because of the wind in the upper section. This eliminates the extremely steep starting slope.
After their disappointing results last weekend in Wengen on the legendary Streif, the German men are not among the favourites. Last year Andreas Sander and Romed Baumann raced into the top five in the Kitzbühel races. In addition to Baumann and Sander, Josef Ferstl, Dominik Schwaiger and Simon Jocher are also hoping for a good placement this time.
