Many Swiss

The Swiss even send nine athletes into the race. The best Swiss slalom skiers of the past winter form the beginning: Loïc Meillard (start number 3) and Daniel Yule (15). Luca Aerni (23), Ramon Zenhäusler (24) and Marc Rochat (30) are also among the first 30 starters. We take care of their colleagues during the competition. We are expecting a total of 72 athletes from 21 nations.

Contingent of the ÖSV

The Austrians are represented in large numbers as usual. Manuel Feller (start number 4), who finished second in yesterday’s giant slalom, has the best chances. He is followed by Johannes Strolz (9), Marco Schwarz (12), Michael Matt (16) and Adrian Pertl (18). After that, the high starting numbers for Fabio Gstrein (26) and Dominik Raschner (38) pose a challenge. Much later, it is Simon Rueland’s (65) turn.

Seven Germans

For the German Ski Association, there is an impressive number of seven athletes at the start – above all Linus Straßer (start number 7), who has already won two World Cups in special slalom. In addition to the greatest German hope, Sebastian Holzmann (36), Anton Tremmel (44), Alexander Schmid (46), Fabian Himmelsbach (48), David Ketterer (50) and Adrian Meisen (64) are looking forward to the competition with higher starting numbers.

Here in the huge Espace Killy ski area, athletes are now offered a 591 meter long slalom slope – on the lower section of the Face de Bellevarde. From the start at 2,053 meters it is 203 meters down to the valley. Corrado Momo, an Italian in Spanish service, is responsible for setting the course.

The first men’s slalom this winter is taking place in the French Alps today. We start the first round at 9:30 am. World Cup races in December in Val d’Isère are traditionally referred to as the criterion of the first snow.
