Ideal starting position for Shiffrin
Shiffrin took a lot of risks in the first heat of the day and got his reward. The American delivered a good race and is fifth (+0.56s) ahead of her main discipline, the slalom – an ideal starting point for Shiffrin. Italy’s Federica Brignone, also a medal contender, is hot on Shiffrin’s heels in eighth (+0.69s). The two Swiss women Wendy Holdener (+0.99s) and Michelle Gisin (+1.00s) are breathing down Shiffrin’s neck.
The field is led at half-time by the Austrian Christine Scheyer, the Czech Ester Ledecka (+0.01s) is just behind in second place. With Ramona Siebenhofer (0.14s) there is currently an Austrian on the bronze place.
German athletes are not represented in the alpine combined.
