There will be no new Shiffrin show in the giant slalom. The US superstar is far behind the leader Petra Vlahova after the first run in rainy Kranjska Gora.

Mikaela Shiffrin experienced a disjointed first run in the giant slalom in Kranjska Gora. The top rider, who is used to success, didn’t get a good run in the snow in the rainy conditions in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, and is only seventh at the halfway point.

A second back: Will Shiffrin strike back again?

Shiffrin is almost a second behind her biggest competitor Petra Vlhová (Slovakia), who leads the Italian Frederica Brignone by just two hundredths. Lara Gut-Behrami from Switzerland lurks in third place (+0.15s).

In Lienz, Shiffrin showed Vlohvá and Co. their limits and won the giant slalom and the slalom. The two-time Olympic champion celebrated her 92nd and 93rd World Cup victory – an unrivaled record in the Alpine skiing circus. She already has five victories this winter and is consequently leading the overall World Cup.
