Amelia Smart (CAN)
Amelia Smart from Canada throws herself into the forest of poles as the next starter. Recently it was no longer possible for the athlete to drive far forward and she can do little either. She struggles and ends up as the next starter beyond the three seconds.
11:06
Nastasia Noens (FRA)
The French are having a really hard time. It drives a rather wider line and the center of gravity doesn’t quite fit either. After more than three seconds behind, she has to wait and see if she gets a second chance.
11:05
Kristin Lysdahl (NOR)
Short appearance by Kristin Lysdahl! After just a few goals, she gets stuck and is eliminated.
11:04
Maria Therese Tviberg (NOR)
Maria Therese Tviberg cannot keep up and after minor mistakes and no clean technique, it goes back to midfield.
11:02
Paula Moltzan (USA)
Paula Moltzan was able to take home a good result in the giant slalom yesterday and she’s still looking great today! It lies nicely on the slats and can even take a slide. With a strong final sector, she finds herself in sixth place.
11:01
Camille Rast (SUI)
Camille Rast tries to drive a tight line, but after the mistake comes relatively early, she loses her rhythm and just follows her turns. With more than three seconds, it drops back to 15th place.
11:00 a.m
Catherine Huber (AUT)
Fall of Katharina Huber! The Austrian looks insecure and restless from the start and when she threads in, Huber pulls it out! She lands roughly in the snow, but fortunately she can quickly give the all-clear.
10:58
Laurence St Germain (CAN)
Laurence St-Germain cuts a fine figure and tries to keep a tight line on the already choppy track. In the end, however, she cannot keep the gap under two seconds either.
10:55
Leona Popovic (CRO)
Leona Popović also comes to Sestriere with good preliminary results. She delivers a solid slalom and ranks tenth. She has achieved a good interim result.
10:54
Thea Louise Stjernesund (NOR)
Thea Louise Stjernesund has already had some good results this season. What can she deliver now? She looks a bit tense and maybe wants a bit too much after her top ten place in Levi. In the finish area, she waves her hand in disappointment when the gap of 3.50 seconds lights up. It is currently not among the top ten.
10:52
Sara Hector (SWE)
Aggravating! Sara Hector starts her run aggressively, but then slips away! She’s back in the race but of course there’s no chance of a good result. Cross the finish line more than five seconds behind.
10:50
Mina Fuerst Holtmann (NOR)
Just a few poles after the start house, the Norwegian made the big mistake and after this she lacked the center of gravity over the ski to finish the rest of the race fluently. Mina Fuerst Holtmann comes through with a running time of over a minute and also ranks further behind.
10:48
Michelle Gisin (SUI)
Michelle Gisin can be seen that she had hoped for much more. The Swiss quickly leaves the target area after she has already caught up with an enormous deficit.
10:47
Ali Nullmeyer (CAN)
Ali Nullmeyer is a pure slalom specialist and accordingly has not had many starts this winter. She’s close in the upper section, but when she doesn’t land a couple of turns properly, the gap also widens for her. What can she bring to the finish? sixth place. She can be quite satisfied with that and is in the area where she could still make up places in the final.
10:45
Martina Dubovska (CZE)
How is Martina Dubovska doing? The Czech is also struggling and cannot take any of the places up front. The slope already seems to be easing. Can someone intervene at the very front?
10:44
Catherine Troupe (AUT)
Katharina Truppe comes to the race in Italy with a podium finish. After the starting gate she gets into it much better than her teammate, but she quickly finds herself behind by a lot. Troop is always a bit late with her swings and she gets a whopping two seconds at the finish line.
10:42
Catherine Liensberger (AUT)
Pity! Katharina Liensberger takes far too long to find her way. She approaches the first poles very stiffly, doesn’t seem liberated and relaxed at all, and early on she’s behind the best athletes. Can she still catch up in the second part of the slope? No! With a deficit of almost two seconds, she is mercilessly pushed back to the back of the field.
10:40 a.m
Mikaela Shiffrin (USA)
The next athlete from the group of top favorites is already on the way. The American allows herself a few small mistakes, but overall she is doing well and still has every chance of reaching the final. Third place goes to Shiffrin.
10:38
Petra Vlhova (SVK)
Petra Vlhová is always a must-see athlete in slalom, but she hasn’t won this season so far. The Slovak starts her run worse, struggles more, but unlike Holdener, she gets the second part clean and can really catch up in the last part with a clean and fast run! There is a new leader with a lead of 0.24 seconds.
10:36
Anna Swenn-Larsson (SWE)
Anna Swenn-Larsson from Sweden is still doing well in the first section, but then she doesn’t catch the waves properly and can’t get a rhythm anymore. Holdener is easy in front and Dürr stays in front of the Swede.
10:35
Wendy Holdener (SUI)
Wendy Holdener has finally broken the curse and celebrated her first victory in slalom. Can she carry the momentum into today’s race? Holdener gets off to a strong start and even a cross adjuster doesn’t stop her. She stays on top of it and confidently takes the lead with 25 hundredths. Nevertheless, the facial expressions at the finish show that she would have liked to have avoided the mistake. After all, there are still some strong starters.
10:34
Ana Bucik (SLO)
Ana Bucik from Slovenia is having a much harder time. The Slovenian can’t get into her run at all and after a big mistake she just follows behind. With a gap of 1.72 seconds, she is already well behind the German.
10:33
Lena Durr (GER)
It’s done for Lena Dürr and the German is the first athlete to go to the pole forest. What can she submit to the competition? The slope is in good condition, so it’s important to have a good time. Dürr put in a solid run, but was not 100% satisfied in the finish area. Now it’s time to wait and see what the other athletes will do.
10:25
The ÖSV athletes
The Austrians again have a broad team at the start. Katharina Liensberger, Katharina Truppe, Franziska Gritsch and Chiara Mair are always capable of good results. Katharina Huber, Marie Therese Sporer and Nina Astner will complete the seven-strong squad.
10:19
What can drought tear?
The German team also has a strong athlete in their ranks in Lena Dürr. Dürr only missed out on the podium twice in Levi before she made a big mistake in the final in Killington and was unable to take advantage of her good starting position. It should be correspondingly hot to finally drive up to the podium. Dürr starts the first round today with start number 1. For Andrea Filser and Marlene Schmotz it’s about taking as many points as possible.
10:07
Holdener hungry for more
Wendy Holdener sticks to the stamp of the eternal second, a curse that she was able to break in the slalom in the USA. Now it will be interesting to see whether the Swiss can follow up after her first slalom success in the World Cup. All-rounder Michelle Gisin will be squinting at the top ten she has missed in the technical disciplines so far this season. Camille Rast wasn’t able to reach her maximum this winter either. Aline Danioth, Melanie Meillard, Nicole Good, Elena Stoffel, Aline Höpli and Lorina Zelger complete the Swiss squad.
09:57
Who secures the victory?
Three slalom world cups have already been held this winter, and the American Mikaela Shiffrin was able to take first place twice. Shiffrin is leading the slalom world cup and can still be found among the top favorites today. Slovakia’s Petra Vlhová, on the other hand, is still waiting for her first win this winter and would certainly like to attack. The Swedes Anna Swenn Larsson and Sara Hector should also be kept in mind.
Warm welcome
Hello and welcome to the Sestriere women’s slalom! The live ticker starts in good time before the start of the race.
