Odermatt crowns its season!

Marco Odermatt wins the World Cup final in Andorra! The Swiss proves his class in the Super G for the last time and relegates Marco Schwarz from Austria and the Norwegian Aleksander Kilde to the places. Even before the race it was clear that Odermatt would win the World Cup ahead of Kilde and Vincent Kriechmayr.

12:18

Livio Hiltbrand (SUI)

For the Junior World Champion, the main thing at the end of the day is, of course, to gain experience. And the young Swiss is doing a really good job, even driving the sixth-best last sector. However, he missed 15th place and thus possible World Cup points by four tenths.

12:16

Adrian Smiseth Sejersted (NOR)

The penultimate starter is now the Norwegian and he makes relatively short work. However, in a negative way, because before the first split he had to give up after a mistake and was eliminated.

12:15 p.m

Romed Baumann (GER)

Right from the start, Romed Baumann struggled with the soft slope. The German finds no rhythm at all and is almost four seconds behind at the end. Nothing went together for the DSV starter.

12:12

Loïc Meillard (SUI)

It’s 16th place for the Swiss and maybe not only in today’s race. Meillard ends today without a World Cup point and falls out of the top 15 in the Super-G World Cup.

12:11

Guglielmo Bosca (ITA)

What a start for the 29-year-old! Bosca is even in the lead in the first two split times, but then makes a mistake. As a result, he loses almost 1.4 seconds. Because in the last section of the route he is even better on the road than Odermatt, he makes up some time. However, his deficit from the third sector is too big.

12:09 p.m

James Crawford (CAN)

Crawford had his problems throughout the race. The Canadian is then eliminated from the back, but his time would probably not have been enough for World Cup points anyway.

12:08 p.m

Gino Caviezel (SUI)

A consistent drive from Caviezel, although not consistently at the front. Even because of the bad slope, the Swiss had trouble and ended up in 12th place.

12:07 p.m

Dominik Paris (ITA)

As a downhill specialist, this fast Super G naturally suits the Italian. Paris shows a very good run and can at least keep the gap within limits in the technical part. Seventh place for the Italian.

12:04

Nils Allegre (FRA)

This 12th place is now taken by Nils Allegre, who can at least hope for World Cup points. However, the Frenchman is certainly not completely satisfied with his run, he has problems especially in the middle section.

12:02

Stefan Rogentin (SUI)

From behind, the Swiss pushes the pace again and gets the fourth best last sector. Because his previous run was anything but good, the Swiss had to settle for 12th place.

11:57

Alexis Pinturault (FRA)

And that competition includes Alexis Pinturault and he will fall behind Sander in the World Cup. The Frenchman should have done a little better in the technical part as a giant slalom specialist, but he also had problems there and fell back to ten.

11:56

Andreas Sander (GER)

Especially at the start, Andreas Sander shows a really good ride. The German is doing very well, especially in the fast part of the track, but has to let things slip in the technical section. For the moment it is sixth, now Sander has to hope for the competition.

11:53

Stefan Babinsky (AUT)

Babinsky is too upright and loses too much speed as a result. Especially in the fast sections, the Austrian should crouch a little more. The consequence is that the Austrian with the worst time is at the bottom.

11:51

Vincent Kriechmayr (AUT)

A very short appearance by Vincent Kriechmayr, who is too early in the sloping position before the first interval and can no longer compensate for a shot there. Before the race has really started for him, it’s already over.

11:49

Marco Odermatt (SUI)

Outstanding performance once again by Marco Odermatt! The Swiss once again proves his class and really pushes the pace in the technical section. For the moment it’s the lead and with that drive the chances of victory are not bad.

11:46

Daniel Hemetsberger (AUT)

The slope gets worse and allows even fewer mistakes and inaccuracies. Daniel Hemetsberger also feels this, who has to correct too many things, which badly and simply costs a lot of time. The Austrian takes over the Red Lantern.

11:44

Aleksander Aamodt Kilde (NOR)

Kilde has big problems in the spinning middle section. The Norwegian’s upper body twisted several times and he came out too far. That takes time and, above all, time. At the back, the Scandinavian is only good enough for second place for the time being.

11:41

Justin Murisier (SUI)

Murisier risks everything right away, but is a bit too wild on the way. During the first jump, the Swiss has to row his arms vigorously to keep his balance. In the end, this ride is a bit too wild and buggy. Only sixth place for the Swiss.

11:40 a.m

Marco Schwarz (AUT)

With the official training sessions, Marco Schwarz is on the skis every day these days. The Austrian drives in every discipline and does his job really well. The Austrian drives a bold line and constantly pushes the pace. In the end he takes the lead with six tenths!

11:39

Jeffrey Read (CAN)

The drivers are on the road for more than 80 seconds, but in the end a few centimeters decide. Converted, Jeffrey Read is only 26 centimeters short of the lead, but the Canadian has to be satisfied with second place. For Read, however, it will primarily be about World Cup points today, which can be awarded up to 15th place.

11:36

Mattia Cassé (ITA)

Incidentally, the men are driving on the same course as the women before. There, the slope had later subsided, which will also benefit the men and possibly earlier than expected. The fact that Mattia Casse didn’t set the best time here had less to do with the slope. The Italian shrugs his shoulders a bit at the finish, but was a bit too slippery in the middle section.

11:34

Ryan Cochran-Siegle (USA)

Ryan Cochran-Siegle does it a little better, but he could have done better. Especially in the middle section he doesn’t have the best line, but it’s enough for the lead.

11:32

Raphael Haaser (AUT)

Raphael Haaser starts things off, taking risks here and flying very far, for example, on the first jump. His ride isn’t perfect, but all in all it’s certainly solid. In the end you will see what time will do.

11:27

Biggest team

More than a quarter of the field met the kit of the Swiss team today. For Marco Odermatt it will be the aforementioned triumphal drive shortly before the World Cup crystal ball is awarded. For Stefan Rogentin, Justin Murisier, Gino Caviezel and Loic Meillard it will be about staying in the top ten in the World Cup rankings or getting there. The sixth Swiss participant is Livio Hiltbrand, who won the Junior World Champion title in January.

11:12

German duo included

Speaking of good World Cup soition. This is also held by Andreas Sander, who is currently in fifth place, but is only four points behind Alexis Pinturault. The objective is accordingly clear: for Sander it is about fourth place. In addition to him, Romed Baumann is the second German to take part today.

11:11

Top placement as a goal

In addition to the aforementioned Vincent Kriechmayr, four other starters are present from the Austrian point of view. Stefan Babinsky and Daniel Hemetsberger had a good season in Super G and want to defend their good positions (seventh and eighth) in the World Cup at least once. The ÖSV team is completed today by Raphael Haaser and Marco Schwarz.

11:08

The most important decisions have already been made

There won’t be any particularly great tension today. Marco Odermatt is already the winner of the World Cup and second and third place have also been firmly assigned to Aleksander Kilde and Vincent Kriechmayr.

10:51

23 drivers with us

In the World Cup final, the field is made up as follows: The 25 best riders in the discipline World Cup (if they want to compete), the junior world champion and all runners who have collected over 500 points in the overall World Cup are eligible to participate. Not all drivers who are entitled to start are there today. Including the junior world champion Livio Hiltbrand from Switzerland, there are 23 starters today.
