Gut-Behrami has opened the season! In the upper, slightly flatter part it delivers a clean ride. On the steep slope she starts to slip for a moment, but then finds her rhythm. It’s slightly too late on a left swing, but overall it probably makes a good run. It will soon become clear what your time is worth.

Favorite circle
In addition to Lara Gut-Behrami, the American Mikaela Shiffrin (start number 3) is probably the top favorite. The Swede Sara Hector (3) is also a force to be reckoned with, as she repeatedly put on furious performances last season. The two Italians Marta Bassino (4) and Federica Brignone (6) and the Slovakian Petra Vlhová (5) can also expect good chances.

How does Gut-Behrami deal with starting number 1?
The Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami will open the alpine ski season today at 10 a.m. with start number 1. Last season she came second in the giant slalom World Cup and is still one of the favorites today. The Austrian team was missing a top athlete in the giant slalom last year. Ricarda Haaser was the best placed in the Giant Slalom World Cup, she was 15th at the end of the season, but she is not there today. Aicher’s only German hope
For the DSV, Emma Aicher (start number 51) is the only athlete starting today. The 19-year-old is considered a great talent and came 21st in the giant slalom at the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2022. Alpine skiing is back! The 2023/24 ski season begins at 10 a.m. with the women’s giant slalom. The season begins today in the Austrian town of Sölden. The first starter of the season will be Lara Gut-Behrami from Switzerland.
