Switzerland also has favorites
Last year’s winner Daniel Yule from Switzerland (6) is certainly one to watch again today. In addition to him, the Swiss team can also rely on Loïc Meillard (1) and Ramon Zenhäuser (2). Marc Rochat (17) and Luca Aerni (27), Sandro Simonet (40) and Tanguy Nef (41) are also involved. There is also Reto Schmidiger (47), who fought his way back into the team without squad status. He earned his return with good performances in FIS races and the recent victory in the European Cup slalom in Obereggen. Now it will be interesting to see what he can do with a high starting number.

Will you be back on the podium?
Linus Straßer from the German team, who goes into the slope in seventh place today, has good memories of the night slalom. Last year, Straßer came third and will be eager to repeat that result this year. In addition to him, the DSV is sending three other athletes into the race: Sebastian Holzmann (23), Fabian Himmelsbach (62) and Anton Tremmel (39).

Is Feller upping the ante?
The Austrian Manuel Feller won the first World Cup slalom of the winter and will also be one of the favorites at the start in Madonna di Campiglio on Friday. It’s his turn in the first round with start number five. Marco Schwarz follows as the next Austrian with the eight. Fabio Gstrein (12), Adrian Pertl (20) and Michael Matt (22) are also in the starting group of the first 30 athletes. Johannes Strolz (33), Dominik Raschner (50) and Simon Rueland (52) will complete the squad at the last World Cup before the holidays.

Driver requested again
In the last race before Christmas, the athletes are once again particularly challenged. It’s not just the time of day that gives the slalom a special touch, but also the nature of the route. The starting point of the 470 meter long slope is at an altitude of 1725 meters, while the finish point is at 1545 meters with a maximum gradient of 60 percent.
