Alpine skiing live: Levi Slalom (women) in the live ticker | 19.11.2022 10:00

10:33

Amelia Smart (CAN)

Amelia Smart is a full member of the World Cup team for the first time and has to prove herself this season. The 24-year-old also misses the last risk, but comes through cleanly and is in the top 15 for the time being.

10:31

Kristin Lysdahl (NOR)

Kristin Lysdahl is understandably taking it easy in the comeback race after a serious knee injury. There is still a lack of speed and self-confidence to drive in at the front. It should even be tight with the second round.

10:29

Laurence St Germain (CAN)

Laurence St-Germain just avoids being the third failure of the round, but has to climb back quite a bit and is therefore far away from the rest of the field in terms of time.

10:28

Camille Rast (SUI)

Next chance for Switzerland: Camille Rast also changed equipment in the summer and now also rides on Salomon boards. Actually, Levi has always suited her well, but this time she was skeptical in advance and you can see that in the result. More than two seconds are missing after a discouraged ride to the top.

10:27

Martina Dubovska (CZE)

Martina Dubovska puts a tiny exclamation mark at the top and is just ahead in the first split! The Czech does it well, drives incredibly soft and not an inch too much. But then the same picture again: Dubovska throws back massively in the steep.

10:23

Leona Popovic (CRO)

Leona Popović was one of the discoveries of last winter and is off to a good start here too. She loses almost three tenths in the upper part only on Dürr. But then she also has to struggle on steep slopes because she stands too hard on the edges.

10:22

Catherine Troupe (AUT)

Katharina Truppe actually has her strengths on the flat, but loses clearly at the top. Something didn’t fit at all and the backlog is constantly growing. There’s definitely nothing more to the front.

10:20

Mina Fuerst Holtmann (NOR)

Mina Fuerst Holtmann still has problems finding her rhythm after a change of equipment in the summer. The Norwegian can’t bring her usual aggressive style to the piste at all and gets a second and a half in it.

10:19

Anna Swenn-Larsson (SWE)

The next Swede is on the way. As a pure slalom specialist, Anna Swenn-Larsson should have better cards in Levi. And in fact, she is on par with Lena Dürr until halftime. With significantly shorter turns, she gets through much better than the competition recently and is the first driver to lose less than half a second to Lena Dürr, who is in the lead.

10:17

Sara Hector (SWE)

What does the giant slalom Olympic champion from Beijing show in the pole forest? Sara Hector now has to confirm her great last season and given the circumstances, the Swede is doing well. A good second is missing on Dürr, that’s sixth.

10:15

Paula Moltzan (USA)

The next failure! Paula Moltzan chooses a very narrow line, then threads into the steep slope at the entrance and is out.

10:14

Catherine Huber (AUT)

It almost seems as if the slope is already easing and becoming increasingly soapy. Similar to the athletes above, Katharina Huber is still keeping up well and drives very dynamically, but also loses massively on steep slopes because she hardly gets any pressure on the edges.

10:12

Ali Nullmeyer (CAN)

The Canadians have reconnected with the world leaders and want to attack at the top. Ali Nullmeyer doesn’t get along at all in Levi and completely messes up the transition into the steep. In the end, the Canadian almost throws it out, but at least she stays on the boards.

10:11

Catherine Liensberger (AUT)

Now the season has also opened for the ÖSV! Katharina Liensberger is supposed to do it this winter in the slalom, but the double world champion from Cortina d’Ampezzo is not at all up to temperature. Liensberger drives far too carefully and loses a second and a half to the top.

10:09 a.m

Mikaela Shiffrin (USA)

And Mikaela Shiffrin? As is well known, the US lady has her strengths in the upper part, drives very upright and is initially on the top time. But Lena Dürr has gained a lot on the steep down and Shiffrin can’t keep up! She is also missing more than half a second!

10:08

Petra Vlhova (SVK)

Now comes Petra Vlhová! Can last season’s dominator make her mark again? No! The Slovak is struggling with a slightly different technique and is clearly behind at first. Thanks to the best time in the last sector, she moves up to second place.

10:07

Ana Bucik (SLO)

Ana Bucik makes a good start, but also has her problems in the stem slope and ultimately checks in at the same time as Wendy Holdener in second place behind Lena Dürr.

10:05

Michelle Gisin (SUI)

The next Swiss girl! With Michelle Gisin, however, it doesn’t look good at all and she loses tenths by tenths. On the steep slope, she then completely strays from the ideal line, hits a pole and falls! The first failure of the winter is official.

10:03

Wendy Holdener (SUI)

Like Dürr before, the Swiss needs a moment to find her way and then gains ground. At first she is level, but then she gets too much on the outside ski twice on the steep slope and loses a few tenths.

10:02 a.m

Lena Durr (GER)

Lena Dürr opens the 2022/23 World Cup season! The German starts off a little cautiously on the quite friendly course, but then finds her rhythm and accelerates powerfully. It looked pretty smooth on Levi’s icy yet grippy slope. What is the time of 54.48 seconds worth?

10:00 a.m

perfect conditions

The external conditions in Levi are very good. The slope is well prepared and the light fog shouldn’t really affect the view. Here we go!

09:57

Nine Swiss women

Switzerland is sending nine female technicians onto the slopes. The squad is led by the experienced Wendy Holdener, who finally wants to be at the top in the slalom. All-rounder Michelle Gisin is always good for a top result. Camille Rast, Aline Danioth, Melanie Meillard, Nicole Good, Elena Stoffel, Aline Höpli and Lorina Zelger are also starting in Team Swiss Ski today.

09:51

Liensberger leads the ÖSV squad

Austria is sending eight runners into the first slalom of the season. Hopes rest primarily on double world champion Katharina Liensberger, who was the only ÖSV athlete to win a slalom last winter. Katharina Truppe and Katharina Huber are also expecting a good result in Levi. In addition to Chiara Mair, Franziska Gritsch and Marie-Therese Sporer, the six-time Junior World Champion Magdalena Egger and Nina Astner are also two young hopefuls.

09:43

Skinny in attack mode

Lena Dürr has been preparing with the German team in Levi since the beginning of November and sees herself well equipped to attack Vlhová and Shiffrin. “I hope that we can crack the two,” said the 31-year-old technician before the first goal of the season and made it clear: “Winning the World Cup is the big goal.” In addition to Dürr, who will open the race with starting number one, Emma Aicher, Jessica Hilzinger, Andrea Filser and Lara Klein will also be starting in Levi today.

09:37

Everyone hunts Vlhová

Petra Vlhová is going to the pole forest as the top favorite again this year. Last winter, the Slovak won the discipline classification and also won the Olympic gold in Beijing. The former slalom queen Mikaela Shiffrin, who won the overall World Cup again last season, wants to counteract this. The German hopes rest on Lena Dürr, who was able to achieve her first four podium finishes in the slalom last winter. Incidentally, these three were on the podium in exactly the same order last year at the first slalom in Levi.

09:31

The wait is finally over

After the giant slalom in Sölden, the downhills in Zermatt/Cervinia and the parallel race in Lech/Zürs all had to be canceled due to the weather, the women in Levi, Finland, can finally start their World Cup season. Two slaloms are on the program this weekend. The first round starts today at 10 a.m.

Warm welcome

Hello and welcome to the Levi Women’s Slalom! The live ticker starts in good time before the start of the race.
