Fall from the second forerunner
The jury hasn’t given a new start time yet, but it probably won’t start on time at 11:30 a.m., because work is currently being done on the safety fence in the upper part after the second forerunner fell. He was able to get up on his own and swings to the finish.
11:23
Something’s going on
Something is happening at the start house. The forerunners are getting ready and the visibility conditions are now being tested. Currently, the poor visibility only relates to the first goals.

Waiting game goes to the next round
The waiting game in Crans Montana is entering the next round. Now it is hoped that the cloud cover will clear by 11:30 a.m.
11:06
Cloud cover holds in the starting area
Actually, one had hoped that the cloud cover would clear up again soon, but that’s what it looks like at the moment. Visibility has even gotten worse in the last few minutes. The cloud cover persists in the starting area.

What’s up for the ÖSV athletes?
The Austrian team also has some hot irons in the fire again today. Nina Ortlieb (11), like Mirjam Puchner (3) and Cornelia Hütter (14), have chances. Stephanie Venier (16) is also certainly good for good results. The large squad is completed by Ramona Siebenhofer (20), Ariane Rädler (24), Tamara Tippler (28) as well as Christina Ager (29) and Nadine Fest (33).
10:57
Start postponed
Conditions were still good in Crans Montana early in the morning. Just in time for the start of the competition, the conditions seem to annoy the athletes again. The start was pushed back 15 minutes. New start time is 11:15 am.
10:48
Suter leads the Swiss team
The Swiss team is led by Corinne Suter (15), who has already made it onto the podium three times this winter. In addition to her, Lara Gut-Behrami, who is starting number ten today, can certainly also be considered in the large team of Swiss women. Priska Nufer (3), Jasmine Flury (12) and Joana Hählen (17) are also good places. Switzerland’s large squad is completed by Michelle Gisin (19), Delia Durrer (23) and Juliana Suter (35), Stephanie Jenal (37) and Nathalie Gröbli (43).
10:40 a.m
Kira Weidle in wait
Kira Weidle from the German team is also lying in wait. In two competitions this season she was able to finish on the podium with third place and overall she can look back on great results. It means that you definitely have them on the list when it comes to awarding the top places. Today Weidle starts the race with starting number seven. Next to her, Emma Aicher (39) and Katrin Hirtl-Stanggassinger (44) form the German team.
10:33
Goggia the big favourite
Sofia Goggia is definitely going to be the big favorite to start today. The Italian has already won four of the six downhills this winter. Next to her, her teammate Elena Curtoni and Ilka Štuhec from Slovenia are to be rated highly. Both have already beaten Goggia this winter.

Second attempt for the descent
On Saturday, the final spurt of the season was supposed to start in Crans Montana with the descent. Dense fog and unsafe slope conditions thwarted the plan and the event was cancelled. The FIS decided to catch up on the downhill this Sunday. The actually planned Super-G race, on the other hand, is cancelled. It’s supposed to start at 11:00 a.m. today.
Departure should be made up for tomorrow!
The descent is to be made up for tomorrow, Sunday. The Super G, which was actually planned for tomorrow, will apparently be canceled according to the latest information.
Boos in the audience
Of course, the audience, who had been waiting here for two hours, did not like the cancellation at all. Loud boos can be heard from around. But of course the safety of the runners comes first in this case.
Now the cancellation!
Although the fog is no longer the problem, the runway has suffered so much in the two hours that a start is no longer possible. Even before that, the slope conditions were not good and the high humidity made this even worse. The last forerunner almost flew off and didn’t have anything good to report at the finish. As a result, the officials had to cancel the race.
It’s about to start!
Good news from Crans Mortana! If the two forerunners, who will start at 12:55 p.m., do not report anything “bad”, it will finally be able to start at 1 p.m. with a two-hour delay.
The next waiting time is fixed
The fog does not follow the weather forecast and continues to prevent take-off. A new decision will then be made after another half hour.
The wait goes on
A lot of patience is required today. Even now the fog is still too dense to make a take-off possible. So the start is postponed by another 30 minutes. So it can start at 12:30 p.m. at the earliest.
The betting report is encouraging
From 12 o’clock the fog should settle down a bit. Therefore, the jury also decides to take a longer break before the next decision. The next time will be decided at 12 p.m.
The next delay
The start is postponed here every ten minutes. One continues to hope that the fog will shift, but so far that has not been the case. It’s time to keep waiting!
Keep waiting
The start times are now already shelved again. There is now a further ten minute wait before the jury makes its next decision.
New start time
The start has now been scheduled for 11:20 a.m., a new decision as to whether this will also happen is to be made at 11:15 a.m.
Start delayed!
The race should actually start now, but a bank of fog is currently moving across the track, which restricts visibility too much. The start is therefore somewhat delayed.
dominance at the top
In the World Cup, Sofia Goggia has to be beaten this season. The Italian is proving to be the most consistent rider of the winter and looks set to take home the little crystal globe. Behind here, Ilka Stuhec from Slovenia and Elena Curtoni, another Italian, also show top performances.
Strong downhill team
Switzerland is also well represented in the World Cup. With Corinne Suter in fourth place, a Swiss even scratches the World Cup podium, while Lara Gut-Behrami is also having a good season in seventh place. Jasmine Flury (11) recently became world champion in the downhill, Joana Hählen (13) and Michelle Gisin (16) round off a strong Swiss downhill team.
Weidle with a strong season
The whole thing is a bit different with the German team. With Kira Weidle, the DSV is at least among the top five in the World Cup, but Weidle is the only DSV hope for a top placement. However, this should not detract from the performance of Emma Aicher, who is already having a good season at a young age and has already collected 34 World Cup points. Katrin Hirtl-Staggassinger completes the German trio this Saturday.
Broadly positioned
Team Austria has a few irons in the fire in the downhill this winter. With Nina Ortlieb (sixth place), Mirjam Puchner (eighth) and Cornelia Hütter (tenth), three ÖSV starters are in the top ten of the World Cup. However, the last step towards top rankings is still missing for all of them. At least for today’s race it should finally work.
Welcome
Hello and welcome to the descent of the women from Crans Montana! The live ticker starts in good time before the start of the race.
