It still takes
The route is now open again, but of course it will still take a few minutes until everything is ready again here. Hopefully Matthias Mayer from Austria will continue the race soon.
20:57
Slight all clear
Blessing in disguise! Mauro Caviezel is conscious and can even get up. The Swiss is visibly marked and is bleeding from the face, among other things, after slipping a hundred meters unconscious down the slope, but seems to be responsive. In consultation with the doctors, however, apparently to be on the safe side, it is still in the helicopter.
20:53
The helicopter is coming
So far, nothing is known about Caviezel’s condition. But the approaching helicopter doesn’t bode well. The Swiss is being prepared for air rescue and transport to the nearest hospital.
20:49
That doesn’t look good at all
Caviezel got it really hard. After his fall, the Swiss was dragged down the slope at high speed for ages and then, possibly unconscious, crashed into the safety net. The race is immediately stopped and medical help rushes in. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that nothing too bad happened.
20:47
Mauro Caviezel (SUI)
The Swiss Festival continues with the fourth Confederate in a row in the Hang. Mauro Caviezel got off to a good start after his retirement yesterday, but the accident happened after a good half minute. Caviezel takes a hit at full speed, the boards twist and he falls badly.
20:44
Stefan Rogentin (SUI)
The next Swiss! Of course, Stefan Rogentin can’t match Odermatt’s dream performance, mainly because he simply lacks the determination to take the last risk. Still, it’s a squeaky clean performance and if it hadn’t been for his compatriot beforehand, Rogentin would have been in the lead.
20:42
Marco Odermatt (SUI)
Marco Odermatt is simply a number in his own right! The discipline doesn’t matter at all, the Swiss are always at the forefront. Already in the upper part, Odermatt drives out half a second. The 25-year-old is so fast that even a few unclean things don’t throw him off course and he completely pulverizes the best time!
20:40
Justin Murisier (SUI)
Justin Murisier is racing again only two months after a disc operation and is very courageous. A technical error almost costs him the race and the correction throws him completely off track. The chance for a good time is gone.
20:38
Alexis Pinturault (FRA)
Alexis Pinturault has been in search of his form so far. The Frenchman is very committed today and really shows his skills on the technical part of the track. In the end, he lost four of his six-tenths lead, but it was enough for the lead.
20:36
Romed Baumann (GER)
Romed Baumann is the first German to take to the track. After yesterday’s good top ten result, the German-Austrian followed up today and initially chose a very narrow line. Every now and then it twists him a bit, but with a lot of courage Baumann stays on the train. And his effort will be rewarded! The German does everything in the finish slope and checks in a hundredth before Paris.
20:34
Dominik Paris (ITA)
Dominik Paris was unlucky yesterday when his binding broke in a promising position and the race was over. With anger in his stomach, the South Tyrolean attacked from the first second and attacked the goals more than Giezendanner. Paris accelerates at every opportunity and sets a new record.
20:32
Blaise Giezendanner (FRA)
Here we go! Blaise Giezendanner opens the first Super-G of the season! The Frenchman takes it easy on the course, which is about 800 meters shorter than yesterday’s descent. In the technically demanding middle section, Giezendanner does not stay on the ideal line and takes a few detours. 1:34.89 minutes will definitely not remain the top time.
20:23
Ordinary Conditions
An hour ago it was still snowing heavily on Lake Louise, meanwhile only a few flakes are falling on the route and visibility is good. The wind shouldn’t play a big role today and we can look forward to a fair competition.
20:18
Odermatt leads Switzerland
Yesterday Marco Odermatt proved once again that he is a real exceptional driver and certainly the best all-rounder of this time. After his triumph in the giant slalom in Sölden, he was only eleven hundredths short of victory in the fight against the downhill specialists yesterday. Last year, the 25-year-old won twice in the Super-G. In addition to Odermatt, Beat Feuz and Stefan Rogentin in the Swiss Ski team are also good for top results in the Super-G. The federal squad is completed by Justin Murisier, Mauro Caviezel, Gino Caviezel, Niels Hintermann and Loic Meillard.

ÖSV duo wants to be on the podium
In Austria one always hopes for top positions in the Super-G. After all, with Vincent Kriechmayr and Matthias Mayer, the country has the reigning world champion and the reigning Olympic champion in this discipline. With Raphael Haaser, a third ÖSV player is always good for the top ten and Daniel Hemetsberger also showed with his second place in yesterday’s descent that he is in good shape. Christian Walder, Stefan Babinsky, Marco Schwarz, Christian Krenn and Otmar Striedinger are also in the race for Rot-Weiss-Rot today.
20:10
DSV also hopes Sander and Dreßen
The German camp was satisfied after yesterday’s departure. Above all, Thomas Dreßen’s successful comeback made for beaming faces. “I’m super happy with the ride,” said the 29-year-old after eighth place in his first World Cup start in two and a half years. Dreßen has never been quite as strong in the Super-G as he is in the downhill, but he has also been on the podium three times. The best German Super-G driver last winter was Andreas Sander, who came twelfth in the discipline classification. Romed Baumann also started the season well yesterday with tenth place and wants to do better today. In addition, Josef Ferstl, Simon Jocher and Luis Vogt start for the DSV.
20:01
Does Kilde put together the double pack?
In the first descent of the season, Aleskander Aamodt Kilde showed yesterday that he is a force to be reckoned with this winter. In the Super-G, the Norwegian really dominated last year and is of course one of the top favorites today. Above all, the Swiss Marco Odermatt wants to stand up to Kilde. The second in last year’s Super-G classification also had a strong start to the season and was on the podium both in his giant slalom triumph in Sölden and yesterday as third in the downhill. The Austrians Vincent Kriechmayr and Matthias Mayer are always to be considered in the Super-G, while the hopes of the Canadian fans rest on James Crawford, who was fifth in the discipline ranking last year.
Warm welcome
Hello and welcome to the second part of the Lake Louise Speed Weekend! After yesterday’s downhill triumph by Aleskander Aamodt Kilde, the first Super-G of the winter is on the program today. It starts at 8:30 p.m.!
