Alpine skiing | “Frustration and disappointment”: Injury shock stops France star

For Thibaut Favrot, the alpine skiing season is probably over. The Frenchman is doomed to watch due to a serious injury to his left knee. Nevertheless, the winter sports enthusiast tries to keep thinking positively.

The season could not have started more bitterly for Thibaut Favrot: The 27-year-old tore his anterior cruciate ligament during training in Levi, Finland and therefore needs an operation.

Due to the long downtime, Favrot will miss the Alpine Skiing World Championships in Courchevel/Meribel (February 6th to 19th) – a severe setback.

“There is frustration, disappointment, mixed feelings,” the winter sports enthusiast told the French sports newspaper “L’Equipequoted. Despite the injury shock, Favrot doesn’t want to bury his head in the sand.

Alpine skiing: Favrot hopes for a “good comeback”

“I want to look for positive aspects, make the best of everything,” said the specialist in giant slalom and slalom. He shouldn’t “crawl in a hole” now.

Favrot fell during training in Levi, Finland. “I quickly felt that something had happened,” the Frenchman explained.

“I have a good environment, I have good cards, good rehabilitation and a good comeback to make,” said Favrot, despite the circumstances, confident again.

Favrot specialized in alpine skiing in technical disciplines

The 27-year-old specializes in particular in the technical disciplines of alpine skiing. In the 2020/21 season, Favrot finished ninth in the giant slalom World Cup.

At the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, Favrot finished fifth in the giant slalom, only beaten by winner Marco Odermatt, plus Zan Kranjec, Mathieu Faivre and River Radamus. It just wasn’t enough for a medal.
