The reorganization of the team passes through the promotion of the British engineer. Matt Harman takes over as technical director
Internal restructuring continues for the Alpine F1. After the non-renewal of the contract and the (controversial) farewell of Alain Prost and Marcin Budkowski, it is time to form the new set-up in view of the upcoming season. The promotions of Pat Fry and Matt Harman go in this sense, the first in the role of technical manager, the second as technical director in replacement of Fry, in the role he held from 2020 when he joined the French team from McLaren. “With the arrival of Pat and Matt we are strengthening ourselves considerably – said Laurent Rossi, CEO of the Alpine – Pat is one of the engineers with more experience in F1, while Matt will be able to extract all the potential from our cars”.

Specifically, Pat Fry will be the supervisor of all the technical part at Enstone, and will be responsible for the technical development objectives of the single-seaters. The decision comes in an important month for the team and for Formula 1, which in 2022 will enter a new era in light of the regulatory changes that will modify the technique of single-seaters. In this sense, the new Alpine A522 of Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon will be unveiled on February 21st.
