Elected new president of the Czech Hockey Association last week Alois Hadamczik does not take Russia and the Hockey League KHL as harshly as most others in the West.
The former head coach of the Czech national team said Sport.czin an interview that he accepts the presence of Czech players in the KHL and is not closing the gates of the national team for them.
– We need all good players, and if you are interested in money, it is the players’ own business. If the performances of the players please the management of the national team, I have nothing against representation.
– In that case, everyone should be banned from working in Russia, Hadamczik shook.
For example, the Finnish Hockey Association has said that Finns playing in KHL next season will no longer be welcome on the national team.
Hadamczik, 70, defended a Czech striker who signed the KHL deal this week in an interview Rudolf Cerveny.
– He’s not going there to fight for democracy. He is not going to shoot the Ukrainians. Players also want to support their families, Hadamczik said, apparently referring to KHL’s high salaries.
Hadamczik also said he condemns Russia’s hostilities in Ukraine, but players cannot be blamed for the current situation.
Hadamczik coached the Czech Republic twice, first in 2005-08 and later in 2010-14. Under him, the Czech Republic won four medals.
