Almost 98 percent of the votes counted: 37 seats for PVV

VVD mainly loses voters in the east and south of the Netherlands

The VVD has so far received hundreds of thousands fewer votes than during the 2017 and 2021 House of Representatives elections: 1.53 million instead of 2.2 million. The party mainly lost voters in the east and south of the Netherlands. In the Twente municipality of Tubbergen, the most voters switched to another party in percentage terms: 14.4 percent. In Dinkelland, Twente, this involved 14.4 percent of voters and in the Brabant municipality of Reusel-de Mierden, 14.3 percent of voters exchanged the VVD for another party.

The most loyal VVD voters live in the municipalities of Laren and Bloemendaal. Laren is so far the only municipality where the VVD received more votes than during the previous elections: 1.6 percent. In Bloemendaal the number of voters remained constant.

Twente has become an NSC stronghold

New Social Contract has so far achieved the best result in the Twente municipality of Losser, where the party received 33.1 percent of the votes. In Enschede, the home city of party leader Pieter Omtzigt, 27.7 percent of voters voted for NSC.

PVV is the largest so far in 251 municipalities

To date, 333 of the 342 municipalities have counted all votes or reported interim scores. The PVV is currently the largest party in 251 municipalities. GroenLinks-PvdA is the largest in 32 municipalities, the VVD in 28 municipalities.

Almost 98 percent of the votes counted: 37 seats for PVV

Across the Netherlands, almost 98 percent of the votes have been counted after Wednesday’s House of Representatives elections. A forecast confirms that Geert Wilders’ PVV will become the largest party, with 37 seats so far. That is two more than the exit poll indicated on Wednesday evening and an increase of one seat compared to the first forecast. GroenLinks-PvdA has 25 seats, the VVD has 24. According to the forecast, newcomer New Social Contract will enter the House of Representatives with twenty members.

  • In total, approximately 2.3 million people voted for the PVV. The party does that better than the VVD in 2021 and 2017; that party then received 2.2 million votes. In 2012, Mark Rutte’s party received slightly more 2.5 million votes.
  • GroenLinks-PvdA became Wednesday the second party with 1.57 million votes, followed closely by the VVD with almost 1.53 million people. Pieter Omtzigt’s New Social Contract received almost 1.3 million votes.
  • Compared to the first forecast, D66 has dropped slightly, from 10 to 9 seats. The party, which received more than 1.5 million votes two years ago, held there less than 630,000 from about. BBB has actually increased slightly again, from 5 to 7 seats. The CDA has 5 seats. PvdD and FVD each get again one seat less than in the first forecast and end up with 3 instead of 4 seats.
