Almost 200,000 visitors in Assen at the TT Festival, does that fit and how do you count that?

There are indications that you can use for a wet-finger capacity analysis. In that case you can multiply the number of square meters by 2.5, which amounts to 375,000. In theory, if there were no buildings, the city center of Assen could accommodate a million people in three TT Nights.

The TT Festival has made a capacity analysis of the number of visitors where it has been rolled out that a net 100,000 people can go to the center of Assen during a TT Night, if you do include all buildings. The actual number of visitors is initially counted by the TT Festival itself.

“We have a crowd management system,” explains TT Festival director Jan Gerbrand Krol. “That is a camera system that reads how many people are on a square meter. We used to read out the number of Bluetooth connections, but the technology has improved over the past ten years.” The camera system used by the festival consists of more than 25 cameras.
