Almost 15,000 social homes in Flanders have insufficient roof insulation or single glazing. This is evident from figures that Flemish Member of Parliament Mercedes Van Volcem (Open VLD) has requested from Minister of Housing Matthias Diependaele (N-VA). Van Volcem himself calls the figures “disturbing”. “A government should itself set an example to actually accelerate the renovation of the Flemish residential patrimony,” says Van Volcem.
