Almost 100,000 Limburgers experienced liberation | 1Limburg

Just under 100,000 Limburgers are old enough to have experienced the liberation, now 77 years ago. That is about 8.5 percent of the Limburg population.

The figures come from Statistics Netherlands and compiled by Local Focus.

With 9741 people, by far the most people over 77 live in Maastricht. Relatively speaking, Valkenburg has the largest number of people who have experienced the Second World War: 11.3 percent of the population lived there before 5 May 1945.

Roermond
Roermond has proportionally the fewest people who have experienced the liberation. This concerns 4300 people or 7.3 percent of the population. Relatively few people of this age live in North Limburg as well. Logically, it is the most aging municipalities where most people live who have experienced the liberation.
