Allocation stop in Poelkapelle, Fedasil also promises action plan
The consultation this afternoon came after two heavy fights in two days in the asylum center. Mayor Cool already called for swift action to prevent new incidents, and was satisfied afterwards: he was able to convey his expectations to Fedasil, and has already informed the Secretary of State for Asylum and Migration Sammy Mahdi. “I have the feeling that the conflict has almost been resolved,” said Fedasil’s Sofie Desseyn. “Yesterday the group of Afghans and Palestinians also shook hands. So it looks like the situation is calming down again.”

Fedasil is working on an action plan. “In those 11 years we have never had such an incident. I think that is a sign that we have always used very strong preventive measures. There is currently an allocation stop. This means that no new residents will be added. We are also We are fully engaged in discussions with the residents to find out the reason for the incident and what we can do to avoid such things in the future.”
Nine amokmakers from the fights over the past two days have since been placed in other centers.
