After Alligatoah used his last show of the “ReTour” concert series in Cologne to indicate the end of his career, many fans speculated about the truth of the statement. Now, on Sunday (December 3rd), a new single “SO RAUS” was surprisingly released – together with Limp Bizkit singer Fred Durst.
The last single or just another track?
Alligatoah followed up his seemingly final tour conclusion with action: He deleted all of his Instagram posts from his feed and left only one post behind – a black and white sketch with “FIN” written underneath in capital letters.
Now the single release of “SO RAUS” followed. What initially seems like a contradiction to the end of his career makes more sense in the clip for the song. In the music video, BattleBoi Basti can be seen – a long-time companion of the rapper, who opens a letter from the 34-year-old with his last wishes: a feature with Fred Durst. To fulfill this wish, BattleBoi Basti gives everything. But see for yourself…
“SO RAUS” feat. Fred Durst:
The last, “left behind” Instagram post was replaced with a photo of a hard drive when the single was released. BattleBoi, who is currently in charge of the account, alludes to the latest rapping work in the accompanying caption: “[…] Now that I have taken over his channels and manage his estate, I actually just wanted to fulfill his last wish with the help of artificial intelligence […].” This statement also raises questions rather than clarifies them.
On November 20th, Alligatoah played the last show of this year’s tour. With the final piece “Funeral Song,” a grave cross with the inscription “You’re welcome 1989-2023” adorned a huge screen. The rapper gave another hint about his possible musical end in the Instagram bio, which said “Alligatoah was a German-speaking musician (1989 – 2023)”. This has now been replaced with “Alligatoah’s last will” and the link to the new single. It is not yet clear whether this is actually the end of his rap career or perhaps more of a PR stunt.
