allergic reaction? Health is falling in Planica

Joni Mäki was not satisfied with his performance. Jasmin Kähärä was close to the semi-final spot.

It didn’t go rosy.

It was Joni Mäen a crystallization of the traditional sprint of the World Championships in Planica. Mäki missed the quarterfinals and was 19th in the overall results.

The ranking would have been lower if not Niilo Moilanen and Sweden Johan Häggström would have fallen off the bow.

– It wasn’t a bad mood. After the qualification, I felt that the lungs are not saved. I had to go to the maximum in terms of breathing. There were no bangs, Mäki regretted.

The Finnish skier described earlier this week that he is 90 percent healthy. Mäki is suffering from a health problem that has not been solved so far.

– I don’t know if it’s an allergic reaction. The nose has been bleeding quite profusely for a couple of days. It has limited a bit.

Mäki experienced a scare earlier in the quarter-finals, when the Czech Republic Ondrej Cerny fell before him.

The Finn lost time in the confusion.

– I don’t think there would have been anything in it on a good day. It wasn’t a peak run now. It took too much energy.

– When we came under the bridges, nothing happened on the foot.

Mäki hopes to recover for the rest of the World Cup trips.

– It feels like the musculature is working just fine. I believe that I can get quite good performances.

Took the world championship Johannes Kläbo. The best Finnish man was Ville Ahonen (10:s).

Barely out

Jasmin Kähärä was advancing as the only Finnish woman to the semi-finals, but fell out of the time comparison place in the last moments.

– The coaches said to position yourself so that the next place can come. It won’t hurt, though.

In the end, Kähärä was 19th. His goal was to reach the top four in the quarterfinals.

The goal was fulfilled, as the Finn squeezed at the end.

– On top of the hill, I decided that I would still try to drill somewhere. The final straight went so well that I grabbed fourth place. That was the one that was up for grabs.

The hard track and the soft snow were a difficult combination for Kähärä.

– Traditional is not the strongest style for me. If there is a bumpy track, the technique is susceptible to the fact that the shift skiing does not stay completely together. I think it’s a good fight.

Anne Kyllönen was 24th in the overall results. Kyllönen tried to grab places in the final stretch, but the finish line ran out.

– It was sad. The end was good and the third place could have been taken.

The World Cup skiing continues on Friday with the men’s 15+15 kilometer combined race.
