All professional handball clubs receive a license

All 38 clubs in the 1st and 2nd handball leagues will be given permission to play for the coming 2022/23 season. This was decided by the independent licensing commission on Wednesday. The decision is subject to the respective sporting qualification.

“It is really not a matter of course that the clubs have so far managed so well to absorb the significant economic restrictions of the ongoing corona pandemic,” said Rolf Nottmeier, Chairman of the Licensing Commission, and attributed this to the “extraordinary efforts of the clubs , who managed solidly even in these turbulent times”. On the other hand, the loyalty of sponsors and fans would have contributed to the stability of the clubs.

“The Corona aid from the federal and state governments has also provided valuable support,” said Nottmeier. However, the clubs “still have a long, rocky road ahead of them. There can be no question that the clubs will be able to continue the economically successful time before the Corona pandemic without any problems”.

The independent licensing commission of the HBL eV includes Nottmeier (judge at the labor court in Minden), Olaf Rittmeier (tax consultant) and Frank Bohmann (managing director of HBL GmbH). The Commission is supported by Mattes Rogowski, Head of Sport & Licensing at HBL GmbH.
