“All of Belgium wished we lost, but we did it again”
Despite the many titles, it has been a while since BC Oostende was able to celebrate the title in its own hall. A full COREtec Dôme could enjoy it to the fullest.
“I am especially proud of how we put our heads together after the lost cup final. We were 0-1 behind against Antwerp and we can turn that into a 3-1. It is great to become champion at home for all these fans “, says Keye van der Vuurst.
Simon Buysse is especially happy to be able to celebrate the title once again in his own room: “Every title is special, especially this one with Dušan Đorđević. It is indescribable how he throws in that last three-pointer. I take twelve hats off!”

Dušan Đorđević retires from basketball at the age of 40. He was the captain at BC Ostend for twelve years. He enjoyed yesterday with mixed feelings: “It’s very difficult to explain. It’s moving, I’ve been emotionally involved with this moment for several months now. I’m happy and sad at the same time. Happy for the love and appreciation I’m getting here. But also sad that I’m quitting. But it’s the right time.”
“All of Belgium wishes we lost”
Pierre-Antoine Gillet applauds his teammate: “It is exceptional what Dušan Đorđević has achieved. I will try to become a role model like him, although I am not at the same level. But I will still try to keep that individuality like Dušan twelve years long did.”
Olivier Troisfontaines will especially cherish this title: “It’s already my third title with BC Oostende, but it’s the first one I can celebrate at home. It’s a very special feeling, I’m going to cherish this.”
Servaas Buysschaert also mentions that not everyone wanted BC Oostende as champion: “a lot of people doubted us, that’s why it’s very nice to do it this way. Everyone was against us, the whole of Belgium wanted us to lose, but we still won done it again.”
