All three members of K-pop girl band VIVIZ have tested positive for Covid-19. This emerges from a statement from their management.
Umji became the first band member to test positive for the coronavirus on January 28 after a crew member was identified as a close contact of a person with coronavirus. According to management, Umji only had mild symptoms at the time, while her bandmates tested negative.
Only two days later, VIVIZ member Eunha tested positive for Covid-19 after feeling mild symptoms of an illness. And the next morning, SinB, third in the round, also tested positive after a PCR test. At that time, however, the disease was asymptomatic.
Management statements since Umji’s illness indicate that all members are receiving medical treatment in isolation.
It is currently unclear whether the South Korean group’s illness will affect the release of their debut EP “Beam of Prism”. The seven tracks and music video for lead single “BOP BOP!” are scheduled for release on February 9th.
“Beam of Prism” is the first release from VIVIZ. The three ex-GFRIEND members had only teamed up as VIVIZ in October 2021, having left their old management last May.
