all information at a glance

If you regularly travel by train from Zoetermeer to or via Rotterdam Central Station, you must pay close attention in the coming weeks. Various activities will take place until Monday 4 December. You must take extra travel time and different routes into account.

Prorail will close all tracks at Rotterdam Central Station for the next two weekends due to test work. On November 25 and 26 and December 2 and 3 you cannot travel by train to, from or via the station. Most shops are open as usual.

This is why the work is done

The number of track works is higher than normal this year. Last May and June, parts of Rotterdam Central were overhauled. Prorail is extending platforms 9, 11 and 12. The switches and tracks are also being replaced and they are working on the overhead lines and train protection.

Why does all this have to happen now? To enable more train traffic from 2024. The number of daily travelers between Rotterdam Central Station, Delft and The Hague is growing and the track and trains must be adapted to this.

You must take this into account

The NS timetable will change significantly until Monday, December 4. Different routes change every week, so it is advisable to plan your train journey well in the near future. There are no Intercity trains running between Rotterdam Central Station and The Hague Central Station for almost the entire period. During the weekends when the entire station is closed (25 and 26 November and 2 and 3 December), the NS will arrange replacement bus transport.

Do you usually go to Rotterdam by train from Zoetermeer? Then take the metro (E, Slinge) from the Leidschenveen stop. Trams 3, 4 and 34 run from Zoetermeer to this tram and metro stop.

Free public transport from P+R areas

On November 24 and 25 and December 2 and 3, visitors to a number of P+R areas will receive free tickets for public transport. This takes you to the center within 15 minutes. The promotion applies to the locations Slinge, Noorderhelling, Meijersplein, Alexander and Kralingse zoom
