The cult series “Who’s the boss here?” is getting a sequel almost 30 years after its last episode. Even the original cast around Hollywood star Alyssa Milano is back. TECHBOOK with all information.
The sitcom Who’s the Boss ran from 1984 to 1992. The series about a father who moves to the outskirts of town for the sake of his daughter and works as a domestic help received numerous awards at the time and, above all, made the then only ten-year-old Alyssa Milano an overnight star. After several spin-offs got stuck in the planning phase, Sony Pictures is now planning a proper sequel.

After big names like “Roseanne”, “Full House” and “Will & Grace” the next big sitcom of the 80s/90s gets a sequel with “Who’s the Boss?”. The sequel is being produced by Sony Pictures. There is no exact start date yet, but the series should probably start in 2023.

The original is about ex-baseball pro Tony and his daughter Samantha. After moving to the suburbs, Tony works as a housemaid for successful advertising executive and single mother Angela. The question “Who’s the boss here?” arises not only from the atypical for the 80s combination of male housekeeper and his professionally more successful female boss. There’s also a spark between Tony and Angela because they’re increasingly attracted to each other.
How exactly the sequel will continue is not yet known. But the story probably starts 30 years later. Samantha now lives as a single mother in the familiar house, while her father Tony has long since retired. And even now, the father-daughter team shouldn’t always agree – especially when it comes to Sam’s upbringing methods. Whether Angela and her relationship with Tony will also play a role is not yet known.

Alyssa Milano made her acting breakthrough when Samantha was growing up. It was clear early on that she would come back for the sequel – and she seems very happy about that!
Also starring is Tony Danza, who played her father in the original Who’s the Boss? Other names have not yet been confirmed. However, it is conceivable that Judith Light will also return as Angela and Danny Bower as her son Jonathan. The sitcom also stars Angela’s mother, Mona, played by Katherine Helmond; However, Helmond passed away in 2019. Mike Royce (“One Day at a Time”) has already been confirmed as showrunner.
