In Germany, the most expensive iPhone already costs more than 2000 euros when fully equipped. According to a new report, Apple is apparently not enough.
In 2022, Apple continued to raise the prices for the iPhone Pro models outside the US. Despite this, the more expensive iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max models sell significantly better than the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus. That could be a reason for Apple to release an even higher quality model that costs even more.
Pro Max not “Pro” enough yet
According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is considering adding another device to its iPhone lineup. Since the introduction of the iPhone Pro models in 2019, the company has increasingly relied on exclusive features to differentiate them from the standard iPhone models. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro show the biggest difference so far. Not only does the Pro version have the Dynamic Island, an additional camera and a ProMotion display. Apple’s latest iPhone chip A16 Bionic is also only installed here, while the iPhone 14 is left with hardware from the previous year.
With the iPhone 15, however, Apple could widen the gap again. Only the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max will get a periscope camera, a titanium body, and a faster USB-C port. Insiders had therefore already suspected that Apple could therefore rename the iPhone 15 Pro Max to the iPhone 15 Ultra. So far, the company has only used this term for the Apple Watch Ultra and the in-house desktop chip M1 Ultra, which can be found in the Mac Studio.

Bigger, better iPhone Ultra
According to Gurman, Apple is now considering the introduction of a completely new iPhone Ultra model, which is located above the Pro and Pro Max. However, this would require additional features that could justify an even higher price. It would be possible to have even more performance and battery life, a larger display, better camera technology – and even to do without a charging connection.
Gurman expects Apple to introduce the new iPhone Ultra as early as 2024. However, this also means that we cannot expect the Ultra to be a foldable smartphone. Because the company is currently concentrating on larger “foldables”. According to industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, next year is already the Launch of a foldable iPad possible.
iPhone Ultra more expensive than all previous iPhones
Bloomberg reports that CEO Tim Cook grappled with rising iPhone sales prices in a conference call on Apple’s quarterly results. When asked if the strategy was still viable, Cook appears to have replied that the price hike isn’t a problem and consumers could even be persuaded to spend more. According to Bloomberg, Cook reportedly said at the conference, “People are willing to really stretch the budget to get the best they can afford in the category.” So far, the most expensive iPhone Apple has made is the 14 Pro Max with 512 gigabytes of memory, which is on sale for 2099 euros. If Apple actually implements the iPhone Ultra, it should be significantly more expensive.
