All 922 bus stops in Drenthe will become smoke-free within two years. First the larger bus stops (with 5,000 travelers per year) are next, followed by the smaller bus stops.
Today, deputy Nelleke Vedelaar and Emmer alderman Raymond Wanders opened the first smoke-free stop in the center of Emmen. “It is extremely important that everyone in Drenthe can travel pleasantly and healthily. Very nice that we are going to ensure that the bus stops become a smoke-free zone in collaboration with transporters,” says Vedelaar.
Information will be provided in the buses for passengers in the coming weeks. All stops will eventually have a smoke-free road marking.
