A 57-year-old woman from Alkmaar died in an accident with a glider this afternoon. That happened at Gliding Airfield Terlet near Arnhem.
The plane is believed to have hit a row of trees in the crash. Emergency services were on site en masse, but the help to the victim was of no avail.
The Alkmaar woman was the only occupant of the aircraft. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.
More fatal accidents at Terlet
The glider airfield near Arnhem is known as the glider center of the Netherlands. Airplanes float through the air every day.
According to Broadcasting Gelderland things go wrong more often with Terlet. This is the second fatal accident at the glider airfield in a year. Last year, on June 29, a 69-year-old man from Schijndel in North Brabant died in an accident with a glider.
