Alkmaar Light Festival a great success: “Next year all of North Holland in the light”

The two-day Alkmaar Light Festival was a resounding success last night, and for those who missed it: tonight until 11 p.m. is your last chance to see the city as a work of art. The light festival was sold out yesterday and the public enjoyed everything there was to admire.

“You can see it around you, we were really surprised by the number of people who came to this tonight”, organizer Rubin van Gent of Karavaan tells media partner enthusiastically. Alkmaar Central. “We’ve gone over 10,000 cards, and are really flabbergasted by all the interest.”

In the city center of Alkmaar a route has been set up along which the public can view all kinds of light performances. Projections can be seen on buildings such as the Waag and the old Ringersfabriek. There is also live theatre, special light objects and a combination of light and opera in the Grote Kerk.

All of North Holland

This is the second edition of the Light Festival. “The first in 2020 was a kind of corona edition, where you walked along ropes. Now everyone can do their thing,” continues Rubin. “It is already so much more extensive than last time, so we hope to put the whole of North Holland in the light next year.”

So you can visit Alkmaar until 11 p.m. tonight. Do not you have card can get it, don’t worry. At the Waaggebouw and Ringers, for example, you can view the projections from a distance.
