Alkmaar does not want an Orange King’s Day this year: festival canceled

The Orange King’s Day festival, formerly known as Slam FM King’s Day, which has been organized on April 27 for years, has now been cancelled. Festival Oranje Koningsdag is celebrated in both Alkmaar and Amersfoort, but the first municipality is now refusing to grant a permit. That’s on the Facebook page from the organization.

The statement reads, among other things: “After a few weeks behind the scenes, we have done everything we can to organize a great party for you this year, unfortunately today we come with a terrible update: Orange King’s Day 2022 is canceled this year either. .”

summary proceedings

For months, the organization has been busy setting up a good line-up and making the right permit applications. However, the municipality of Alkmaar does not want to cooperate with the release of a permit for the festival. “We even challenged this in summary proceedings in which we were also found in the right by the judge,” it further wrote on the Facebook page.

The municipality of Alkmaar subsequently indicated that it was no longer possible to organize the event this year and without the event in Alkmaar the event in Amersfoort cannot be organized either.

What now?

Orange King’s Day has been moved to next year. The organizers say they regret it all. “We deeply regret that you are doubly affected by this in this way. The disadvantage of organizing a festival is that you are always dependent on other parties and if one of those parties is not willing or unable to cooperate, this can unfortunately happen. What next? Sigh.”

All ticket buyers will receive an email tomorrow with further processing.
