The football club Aston Villa’s representative teams have complained about a special problem with their uniforms, BBC news.
The wool jerseys are made of a material that absorbs moisture and becomes uncomfortable when worn when sweating.
The club’s female players are especially dissatisfied with the shirts. They are downright afraid to put them on for the season opener on Sunday.
Villa’s women’s team is represented by, among others, the super popular Alisha Lehmann, 24.
– They have four televised matches coming up. Normally, players would look forward to these TV games. Now they’re terrified of how they’ll look if the shirt gets wet and sticks to their body, football commentator Jacqui Oatley tells the BBC.
– Women are different creatures than men when it comes to the body. Our performance can be significantly hindered if we constantly have to think about how we look. The shirt can cling to breasts and body shapes.
Oatley suspects that Castore, the manufacturer of sportswear, has designed the shirts only for men. However, the men’s Premier League team has also changed to a dry shirt at halftime in their matches.
