Arto Bryggare believes that Wilma Murto can win the European Championship.
- According to Arto Bryggare, Alisa Vainio has to decide whether she wants to be a successful runner or a recreational runner.
- IL’s expert believes that Wilma Murto can win the European Championship.
- The results of Samuli Samuelsson and Simo Lipsanen were disappointing.
Alisa Vainio stopped the European Marathon in Munich after 30 kilometers on Monday. There was no real explanation for the suspension, as Vainio withdrew completely from the public eye.
Iltalehti’s expert Arto Bryggare doesn’t understand why the Finnish talent competed 27 days before the European Marathon in Munich, the same distance in the World Championships in Eugene.
On top of the stress of the competition, the athletes were consumed by more than a day’s travel back to Finland and a 10-hour time difference.
– I already said before Eugene that the World Championships should have been skipped. Alisa should have gone to practice high up and competed in the 10,000 meters at the Kaleva Games. He is a very stubborn athlete. He’s paying for it now.
According to Olympic medalist Bryggare, the talented Vainio has a place for serious reflection.
– He needs to think about what he wants from sports and his career. If you like to run, you can run anywhere. Then you have to understand that you can’t do well in these races just by running.
– It is not forbidden to enjoy running and do whatever you feel like. That way, there just won’t be any success that would be possible for him.
PASI LEISMA
A 45-year-old was also seen at the marathon Annemari Kiekara. After a 23-year break, the Finn, who returned to the prestigious races, was 49th and suffered from fluid absorption problems.
Kiekara hinted that the prestige race may be over. Bryggare doesn’t think that the super talent of the junior years just ends at the wall.
– He loves running. He has found a balance between running and the rest of his life. I don’t think he will leave the sport. The world is full of marathons and events for endurance runners of that level.
The run doesn’t go

The start of the European Championships did not make an impression on Bryggare from a Finnish perspective. In the throwing events, the final places were not taken.
Holder of the Finnish record in the men’s triple jump Simo Lipsanen missed the qualification. Kovi’s quote was 15.93.
A week ago, in the Kaleva Games, I went 16.24.
– It would have made it to the final. Compared to that, Simo’s qualifying was really weak. There was a tailwind and the jump hit the board. You can clearly see that he is completely out of shape, Bryggare refers to Lipsanen’s leg injury in the spring.
– The run doesn’t go. If he tries hard, the jump won’t stay together.
PDO
Men’s 100 meters Samuli Samuelsson remained in the preliminary round. Samuelsson had the fastest time of the men in his heat this season, but he finished fourth.
He ran 10.39, while the Finnish record clocked this season is 10.16.
– It didn’t go well. Time is disappointing. The performance was not as it should be.
A chance for gold
PASI LEISMA
Bryggare incenses the prospects of the women’s pole vault. Wilma Murto and Elina Lampela see you both in Wednesday’s final.
Murto exceeded 450 in qualifying and seemed to have got the package together after the Kaleva Games. What makes the evening’s final exciting is that no fewer than nine women exceeded 450 in the qualifiers.
– Murto collected himself in a tough place. There is no clear leader in the final. Wilma’s ranking can be anything between first and second, says Bryggare.
