The Foo Fighters get a pinball machine designed after them. The Stern Pinball company released a trailer for the game on February 24th. He doesn’t show the machine itself, but does suggest that the theme will be an alien invasion.
Inspired by the Ghostbusters movie, the animated trailer features all members of the group, including Taylor Hawkins, who died in 2022. It is underlined by their song “All My Life” from the 2002 album ONE BY ONE. The theme takes up the name of the band. During World War II, “Foo Fighter” developed in the United States Air Force as a standing term for UFOs.
Pinball games have already proven themselves as rock memorabilia. Stern Pinball has worked with a number of bands including Kiss, AC/DC, Metallica, Iron Maiden, The Beatles and Led Zeppelin. These features show what the new machine could look like. From Tuesday (February 28), the devices will be sold to the company’s premium customers. General availability is planned for a later date. Most of the series that have already been released cost at least $6999, depending on the model.
The Foo Fighters will play at the Rock im Park and Rock am Ring festivals in 2023. There they take over the headlining spot from Pantera, whose performance was canceled after criticism of past comments by lead singer Philip Anselmo. At the beginning of February, a statement by British radio presenter Chris Moyles also fueled speculation as to whether the rock band’s new album would be released in March. However, this has not yet been officially confirmed. Taylor Hawkins’ drummer successor has not yet been decided. However, speculation mainly concerns Rufus Taylor, son of Roger Taylor and current drummer with The Darkness and the live performances of Queen + Adam Lambert.
