Alica Schmidt has risen from the athletic fields to international fame. The runner wants to help his sport.
German runner Alice Schmidt24, has garnered an audience that many could only dream of.
Schmidt has a whopping 4.4 million followers on Instagram. The runner’s main sponsor is the fashion giant Boss. The social media attention that Schmidt gets is huge.
– It helps to get income. It is my passion to take people along and show what the everyday life of an athlete is like. I hope that I can inspire them to engage in sports and a healthy life, the runner tells Iltalehte.
According to Schmidt, it is not easy for a German individual athlete to collect enough income and turn sports into a profession. The problem is also known in Finland.
– It is really difficult. Many of our track and field athletes work in the police or study. It’s hard to be a professional athlete if you have to do other jobs for five hours a day.
The runner doesn’t want to share how much Tiena makes on social media. However, Schmidt has influence, as he was chosen by the financial publication Forbes for the Austrian edition of the 30 under 30 list last year.
The most significant people under the age of 30 from various fields are selected for the list.
– Being selected for the list was an incredible thing. I couldn’t believe it when I heard about it. I didn’t think I could achieve that.

Schmidt’s social media popularity began in 2017, when the Australian publication Busted Coverage named him “the sexiest athlete in the world.” The choice increased the number of followers from 12,000 to millions.
You can see from the German athlete that the appearance comments and the title in question are starting to get enough.
– I really don’t care about it. In sports, it’s about how you perform on the track. I want to be the best version of myself.
Schmidt has a stable fan base on Facebook. He gets a lot of messages every day, but some people go further.
– Some have traveled to Germany to meet me. Some fans send gifts. I will try to answer as many messages as possible.
My own record

On the track, Schmidt has won silver in the 4×400 meters at the under-20 European Championships and bronze at the under-23 European Championships in the same distance.
This season, he clocked his record of 52.18 in the 400 meters. The German represented his home country at the World Championships in Budapest in the 4×400 meter medley relay and the women’s relay.
In the mixed relay, Germany was seventh, in the women’s long relay, the team missed the heats.
– We are a little disappointed. We wanted to run faster because we knew we were in really good shape. We couldn’t show it, Schmidt lamented after the women’s long message.
– The races were a great experience. Germany has a lot of young athletes who work hard.
Next year, Schmidt wants to run both long relays at the Paris Olympics and improve his record. In the meantime, he hopes to help track and field as a sport.
– I hope that with my actions I can show how great this sport is. I want people to get excited about the sport or even try it themselves.
