Ali Gürbüz won the title of chief wrestler in the 671st Historical Elmalı Oil Wrestling.



Approximately 1200 wrestlers participated in the organization held in Elmalı district of Antalya and described as “Turk’s first private field”. In the three-day wrestling matches, the chief wrestlers Ali Gürbüz and Mustafa Batu, Osman Kan and Kürşat Şevki Korkmaz, who won the quarter-final matches, were matched in the semi-finals by draw.


Gürbüz, who defeated Batu, and Kan, who defeated Korkmaz, advanced to the finals in the bas-pehlivanship semi-final match, which was held under heavy rain and where the scoring system was not applied at the Recep Gürbüz Stadium.


Last year’s champion, Ali Gürbüz, won the 671st Historical Elmalı Oil Wrestling title by prevailing over Osman Kan in the final where scoring was not applied.
