Ben Cramer (74) thinks it is scandalous how hard Ali B (40) and Marco Borsato (55) are treated in the media. He thinks it’s going too far. “You are not guilty until proven.”
It disturbs Ben Cramer immensely that Ali B and Marco Borsato are already seen as guilty by many people. Both men play a prominent role in the abuse scandal surrounding The Voice of Holland. Ali would have raped a number of ladies, while Marco would have touched girls far too young.
Ben supports Ali
It all has yet to be proven, says Ben in Weekend magazine. He collaborated with Ali years ago in the TV program Ali B Op Volle Toeren. “I cannot and will not anticipate things that would have been done or said. I find that difficult.”
Ben would just have a nice chat if he ran into Ali. “In any case, I will definitely not avoid him. On the contrary, I will try to talk to him about it, if at all possible. There is a famous saying: you are not guilty until proven. I’m not going to say there’s nothing wrong, but to what extent?”
rambling too far
According to Ben, we’re really going a little too far. “We have yet to see what remains of those accusations against Marco and Ali B. I sympathize, but it has been a huge hype, we have to stop that now.”
Ali and Marco are treated very harshly, he thinks. “Suppose, and I sincerely hope that it is not as bad as what we hear now, then they are damaged forever. Their careers are forever ruined because people will always think something.”
tall tree
It is very bad for both gentlemen, says Ben. “If you’re a celebrity, that’s often a decent price you pay. A tall tree catches a lot of wind. You will be put in the newspaper by name, but if you are a robber, a bar will appear in front of your eyes and your name will be shortened.”
“As a celebrity you are immediately screwed, so for God’s sake let’s be a little more careful with that. I think it’s going too far.”
