Algeria, Niger and Nigeria sign deal on gas pipeline to Europe | Abroad

The 4,000-kilometer-long pipeline must be completed in a short time, said Algerian Minister of Energy and Mining Mohammed Arkab, without specifying an exact timetable.

According to Algeria, the tenth largest producer of natural gas in the world, the pipeline will be connected to Europe and will be able to supply 30 billion cubic meters of gas annually. The three countries see it as an investment project, as Europe is also looking for other suppliers due to the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine, the reasoning goes.

According to official figures, the cost of the pipeline is estimated at approximately 13 billion US dollars (about 12.8 billion euros). 90 percent of that would be financed by Algeria and Nigeria.
