The bankruptcy of Alfa-tv takes away one important channel from the more traditional iskelmä music.
The news about Alfa-TV’s termination was reported on Friday.
The background company of the television channel, Brilliance Communications Oy, has filed for bankruptcy in the district court of Itä-Uusimaa. The background company’s board had stated that the company does not have the conditions to apply for corporate restructuring. Brilliance Communications’ equity has been lost and the company is insolvent.
In the last two years, Alfa-TV has televised the Autumn Tune competition. Before this, the traditional music competition was on hiatus for eight years.
How will the race go in the future when Alfa TV is no longer there?
– I really do not know. The rights to Syksyn Sävele were owned by Brilliance Communications Oy, says Alfa-tv’s content director when contacted by Iltalehti Timo Suomi.
Radio Pooki has also been involved in the implementation of Syksyn Sävte.
– Our cooperation has worked so that our reporter has been a commentator in the competition and we have also been able to present the program on the radio. But the organization of the competition itself has been in the hands of Alfa-tv, Radio Pook’s program manager Mika Kuki tells.
Radio Pooki has also cooperated with Alfa-tv in recent years. Pook’s presenter has, among other things, hosted Alfa-tv’s Tanssi kannain program.
– Timo Suomi has done a good job at Alfa-tv. I put the congratulations messages there to a couple of other acquaintances as well, Kuki says.
Recently, Alfa-tv also showed Seinäjoki Tangomarkkinat. Iltalehti reached the CEO of Tangomarkkint Pasi Ojalanwho regretted the termination of Alfa-tv:
– You don’t wish it on anyone that business goes badly, Ojala commented.
Alfa-tv has shown especially more traditional hit music. In that sense, according to Ojala, it’s a shame that the artists of this genre are losing one key channel.
– In my time, Tangomarkkinat has not cooperated with Alfa-tv, and I cannot comment on previous matters.
– Last summer Tangomarkkinat was shown on television on channel 17. Next year it will also be shown on television, but we will announce it later, says Ojala.
