Aleksandrova used her second game point via an ace. Aleksandrova, the number 30 in the world, fell 4-2 behind in the first set, after she was the first to lose her service in the sixth game. She immediately managed to break back and did so again at 5-5. On own service, the first set point was equal for Aleksandrova.
The Russian managed to tie her opponent in the second set without losing a point in that game. The rest of the set went to Aleksandrova without giving up a game, as a result of which she won the Libéma Open.
Aleksandrova won her only previous WTA title two years ago in the Chinese city of Shenzhen. A few weeks ago, she reached the semifinals of the clay tournament in Madrid as a qualifier.
The tennis players from Russia and Belarus played under a neutral flag in Rosmalen. As a result of the war in Ukraine, they were not allowed to represent their own country.
