Alexander Zverev slipped in world rankings

Things could have gone better for Alexander Zverev: The German tennis ace was downgraded in the world rankings due to the early exit in Indian Wells. Rafael Nadal, on the other hand, was happy.

The best German tennis pro Alexander Zverev slipped from third to fourth place in the world rankings after his early exit in Indian Wells.

The Olympic champion had surprisingly lost his opening game against the American Tommy Paul in the Californian desert. The new third is now record Grand Slam tournament winner Rafael Nadal. The Spaniard passed Zverev thanks to his entry into the final, as can be seen from the ranking published on Monday.

Djokovic officially number one again

Novak Djokovic is now officially number one in the tennis world again. The Serb is again leading the world rankings ahead of the Russian Australian Open finalist Daniil Medvedev, who only replaced him at the top on February 28. At the next Masters 1,000 tournament in Miami, which begins on Wednesday, there could be another change at the top. As in Indian Wells, Djokovic will be missing there because he is still not vaccinated against the corona virus and therefore did not receive an entry permit to the USA.

At the women’s tournament taking place at the same time, German number one Angelique Kerber is threatened with a difficult duel with former Japanese world number one Naomi Osaka after a bye in the first round. In the world rankings, the woman from Kiel improved by one place to rank 15.
