Alexander Zverev shares horror diagnosis – threatens long break

Alexander Zverev apparently suffered a serious injury in his semi-final in Paris. “After the first medical examinations, it looks like I tore several lateral ligaments in my right foot,” he said on Instagram on Saturday: “I will fly to Germany on Monday to undergo further examinations and the best ones and determine the quickest route for my recovery.”

In the co-published photo, Zverev poses with a thick right foot on crutches in front of a private jet at Paris airport. The 25-year-old Olympic champion also thanked him for the “great support” he had received. Zverev had to give up the game of the French Open against Rafael Nadal on Friday with a score of 6: 7 (8:10), 6: 6 after 3:13 hours of play after he had twisted his ankle.

The third in the world rankings then spoke for the first time that night. “It looks like I have a serious injury, but the medical team and the doctors are still checking it out,” Zverev said in a video message on social networks: “I’ll keep you all posted.”

French Open: Zverev wants Nadal to win the final

Zverev said that it was a “fantastic match” for him on the Philippe Chatrier court until the “obviously very difficult moment”. He had to give up hope of his first final in Paris and his second major final ever.

“Obviously I want to congratulate Rafa and I hope he can make more history with his 14th title,” Zverev added.
