Zverev (28) is the second player from the global top 3 to announce his participation. Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, number 1 in the world, will defend his title from earlier this year in February.

“Alexander Zverev is one of the players who fit the philosophy of the ABN AMRO Open to give young top talents a chance, so that you create a bond with them at an early stage,” said tournament director Richard Krajicek in a press release.

“In the case of Zverev, he came to Rotterdam in 2015 as a 17-year-old. The fact that he has now included us again in his annual plan as number 3 in the world shows that he feels at home,” said Krajicek.

Earlier, Tallon Greekpoor, Alex de Minaur and Stefanos Tsitsipas also promised their participation.
