Alexander Doom gives Belgium gold at the World Cup

Alexander Doom qualified for the final with the fastest time of all participants. He had to compete against the Olympic and world champion in the 400 meter hurdles, the Norwegian Karsten Warholm. The West Flemish starts in the outer lane, next to the tough competitor.

Once the runners all converge on the inside bend halfway through the race, Doom settles into Warholm’s wake. After the last bend he seems to be on his way to a silver medal. In the last meters, Doom shakes out an ultimate acceleration and overtakes the Norwegian before the finish.
